Current ONI Sailor of the Year Awardees
In a ceremony at the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) on 23 March 2010, the Naval Intelligence Professionals (NIP) Capitol Chapter ONI Sailors of the Year award was presented to four deserving Petty Officers. The awards were presented by CAPT Todd Ross, USN, Commander, ONI and each consisted of a Certificate of Recognition, a $100 cash award and 1-year membership in NIP.
ONI Blue Jacket of the Year
IS3 Ashley M. Lanier, USN was recognized for her superior performance while serving as Naval Aircraft Imagery Analyst, at the Unified Geospatial-Intelligence Office of ONI. Petty Officer Lanier re-invigorated a classified imagery signature collection technique which enabled the intelligence community to achieve and maintain accountability for three aircraft. Additionally, she analyzed 1,350 images, produced 124 graphics, and contributed to four maritime intelligence reports in support of the strike projection, evaluation, and anti-air warfare research team. She received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from CAPT Ross.
ONI Junior Sailor of the Year
For his service as Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone technician in the Hopper Information Services Center at ONI , IT2 Nathan M. Brown, USN, was recognized as the ONI Junior Sailor of the Year. He received Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from CAT Ross. He was responsible for the replacement of legacy equipment and installed, troubleshot, and maintained over 852 phones throughout the National Capital region. In addition, he provided professional training and guidance to 86 military personnel as a sexual assault response and prevention counselor. IT2 Brown also deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan on a six month assignment with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Reserve Sailor of the Year
A Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal was presented to IS1 (EXW) Francis X. Henry, USNR for his selection as the ONI Reserve Sailor of the Year. He served as the Command Career Counselor, Naval Reserve Unit 1166 at ONI. He re-invigorated the career development board process with zero transition issues and conducted career development boards for members of the command while maintaining exceptional performance as an analyst in the Kennedy Irregular Warfare Center’s Global Analysis Division. He consistently took the lead in discussions regarding forward deployed intelligence operations and produced exceptional products based on his recent deployment to Iraq.

Sailor of the Year
IS 1 (AW) Katherine R. Dehner, USN was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal recognizing her selection as the ONI Sailor of the Year. She serves as Leading Petty Officer, Fleet Intelligence Specialist Team, Nimitz Operational Intelligence Center at ONI. She oversaw the daily operations and management of four watch teams of 41 junior sailors and was instrumental in the production of over 15,000 imagery products. As the Nimitz career counselor, IS1 Dehner implemented the command’s first career development boards, designed to develop sailors’ professional skills. As the Combined Federal Campaign fundraising coordinator, she was pivotal in raising a total of over $200,000 for various charities.
