Current Ann Caracristi Awardee
On 24 July 2009, at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Naval Intelligence Foundation (NIF) Chairman, ADM Bill Studeman, USN (Ret.), presented the NIF Ann Caracristi Award for postgraduate academic excellence to CAPT Jason R. Jones, USMC, as the top sea services graduate at the National Defense Intelligence College (NDIC) Masters Program. The award was presented to LtCol Ron Senger, USAF, the thesis advisor for Capt Jones at NDIC, standing in for CAPT Jones, who was already deployed to Afghanistan, serving as Executive Assistant to the CJ2, U.S. Forces, Afghanistan.
CAPT Jones was born in Belvidere, Illinois in 1973 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1992. After a tour as a Radio Operator with 3rd Marine Division, he entered the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was commissioned in May 1999. He has served with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and with VMFA-242 Squadron as their Intelligence Officer. From 2003 to 2005 he served with the First Intelligence Battalion as a senior analyst and All-source Fusion Platoon Commander during two deployments to Western Iraq. In 2008, he was selected to serve as the Executive Officer and Executive Assistant to the Joint Staff J2.
CAPT Jones holds a B.S. in Political Science and International Relations
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a M.S. in Strategic
Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College.
