LCDR Scott Roper Receives ADM Inman Award at the Naval Postgraduate School
Each year the Naval Intelligence Foundation has the pleasure of presenting the Admiral B.R. Inman Award to a U.S. Sea Service officer attending the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS), in recognition of that student’s outstanding contribution to the field of maritime intelligence. This year’s recipient is LCDR Scott Roper, who authored a very timely Master’s thesis entitled “Protecting the Nation from Cyber Threats: A Classic Responsibility versus Authority Mismatch.” On 4 December 2012, LCDR Roper was presented the ADM Inman award by CAPT Jennith Hoyt, Senior Intelligence Officer at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, California.
The selection committee received a number of impressive nominations and the choice was difficult. LCDR Roper was chosen from among many competitive nominees whose aggressive course work, personal and professional growth initiatives and contributions to the Navy and their local communities made each worthy of this award. Instituted in 1996, the award is endowed by ADM B.R. Inman, USN (ret) and consists of a commemorative wall plaque, an engraved telescope, and a 5-year membership in NIP.
