2010 VADM Rufus L. Taylor NMITC Awardee
2010 CNO VADM Rufus L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Instruction
Over the last three years Maj. Ukeiley served not only as the Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Detachment at Navy and Marine Intelligence Training Command, but he also served as the Director of Marine Corps Training. Both positions were challenging assignments, but Maj. Ukeiley understood the importance of the undertaking and achieved great things in both capacities. Ukeiley was determined to lead the next generation of Marine Intelligence specialists with pride, professionalism and enthusiasm. As Marine Detachment Commanding Officer, Ukeiley was instrumental in further developing the close partnership between the Navy and Marine Corps intelligence training commands leading to unparalleled excellence in intelligence training.
It was with those efforts that Maj. Ukeiley exemplified the characteristics of the VADM Taylor Award. His desire for professional knowledge, intellectual curiosity, initiative, enthusiasm, ability to command respect and motivate others; his devotion to duty, effective communication skills and personal integrity made him more than worthy of this recognition. His outstanding performance was due in no small part to dedication and a hard work…..but this Marine was more than willing to put forth the extra measure of effort. The bar has been raised.
