Captain (ret.) Christopher, Bott Warshawsky presents IS1 (EXW/SW/AW) Jans Wayne with the NIP Vice Admiral Rufus L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Instruction at FITCPAC on 25 July 2012

On 25 July, Intelligence Specialist First Class (IS1) (EXW/SW/AW) Jans E. Wayne, USN was presented the Naval Intelligence Professionals (NIP) Vice Admiral Rufus L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Instruction by Captain (ret.) Christopher Bott, representing the NIP Foundation Committee,  at the Fleet Intelligence Training Center-Pacific.  Petty Officer Wayne embodies all of the best attributes that Vice Admiral Taylor was known for.  Admiral Taylor’s exploits during World War II and the key role that he played in the post-war years set the foundation for today’s Naval Intelligence and Information Dominance communities.  Admiral Taylor’s foresight, imagination and enlightened leadership had a positive impact on all facets of our profession, including the vital and complex area of training.

Now IS1 Wayne is applying his foresight, imagination and enlightened leadership in the schoolhouse – and in further service to the Navy and the nation.  Petty Officer Wayne expertly led and instructed over one hundred officers and enlisted personnel through six iterations of the Expeditionary Warfare Intelligence Course; qualified as a Master Training Specialist; designed and developed tailored training for forward deployed forces; and he even joined SEAL Team ONE in support of a Crisis Response Element that provided training to a vital ally. The award consists of a commemorative plaque, an engraved telescope, and a five year membership in NIP.
